Jatukik Providence Foundation Great Green Wall Program
The Jatukik Providence Foundation (JPF) embraces the challenge of enhancing the vital role of the private sector in the implementation of the Great Green Wall Initiative (GGWI) across the African drylands. Inspired by the GGWI's mission, JPF presents a comprehensive program that addresses the critical need for private sector engagement.
Land Restoration and Economic Impact
JPF aims to restore 100 million hectares of degraded land by 2030, creating a ripple effect of economic opportunities.
The program seeks to sequester 250 million tonnes of carbon, generate 10 million jobs, and positively impact the lives of 300-400 million people in the drylands of Africa.
Private Sector Inclusion
Recognizing the absence of private sector support, JPF positions itself as a facilitator and enabler.
The program focuses on linking smallholder producers and pastoralists to markets, promoting sustainable supply chains, and creating stable revenues through strategic partnerships.
Strategic Pillars Approach
Learning from successful pilot phases in Chad, North Cameroon, and Senegal, JPF adopts a three-pillar approach—Community-based, Markets-based, and Nature-based.
This bottom-up strategy, pioneered by FAGRIB, aims to tackle challenges and create visible outcomes in areas such as food security, employment, and carbon offsetting.
Risk Mitigation and Attractive Business Ecosystem
Acknowledging the hesitancy of the private sector due to high-risk factors, JPF mobilizes seed funds for soft investments. The program focuses on developing a less risky business environment to attract private sector participation.
Strategic partnerships with NGOs contribute to raising seed funding for the initial $300K required for each of the 11 GGWI countries.
Together, let's cultivate a thriving green legacy across the Sahel and combat desertification on a grand scale!
